The arresters in the DEHNshield family save space in the switchgear and, as Type 1 spark arresters, have many advantages. The operation of the spark arrester system with a "ripple" function provides direct coordination with Type 2, Type 3 arresters and terminal devices. This function determines the performance characteristics of the spark arrestor. DEHNshield provides direct energy coordination with other Red / Series products (no chokes are needed, no length of wiring is required), and the use of an additional varistor arrester next to it is pointless.
